Yasin
Baig has worked hard both intellectually as well as physically from Pakistan
to Canada in order to create and develop his own brand of excellence in print
and broadcast media including journalism. He is an alumnus of Bazm-e-Talaba
which has been an outlet for college students on official Pakistan Broadcasting
Corporation (PBC) radio for more than half a century. While there, he worked
alongside producers, assisting in all aspects of programming including hosting,
script writing and post-production. Later, he graduated to the general programming
section, again, making in-roads and polishing his creative writing and auditory
skills. He was also a staple broadcaster at PBC’s World Service for
overseas Pakistanis, wearing many different caps for a number of years. During
this period, he won countless accolades from his peers and awards of excellence
acknowledging his talents and recognizing his consistent peak performance.
All this skills development and grooming paved his way and enabled him to
move onto bigger and better things in the world outside of PBC. Meanwhile,
he endeavoured to pursue further education and complemented his Bachelor of
Arts by earning a Master’s degree in journalism. During the next few
years, he gained international business experience as an entrepreneur, exploring
several countries in the region including Japan. The
next ten years saw him working non-stop in entertainment journalism in various
branches of media including Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) and the
emerging FM radio network as well as stage productions, countless variety
functions / events and a host of independent channels and entertainment outlets.
His eventually earned an enviable reputation as one of the most sought-after
comic writers and Masters of Ceremony (MC). His journalism resume includes
working in responsible positions at several prominent newspapers including
the Daily Express and the country’s largest and most-respected print
news enterprise namely the Jang Group.
Yasin
immigrated to Canada a few years ago as a broadcast professional and worked
in Internet radio broadcasting during the hey days of the so-called “Dot
Com Boom”. Afterwards, he rolled up his sleeves once again and toiled
and laboured whatever needed to be done in order to support and establish
a home for his family. Regardless of his “day jobs” he has established
an identity as a column writer and a journalist in the print as well as electronic
media here and now he hopes to, once again, reach for the stars by providing
a comprehensive web cast for the South Asian community all over the world
with a difference !
